Black Tea

Earl Grey Lavender Mist

Purple Gray by Muave Limited isn't your average Earl Grey. It combines the bold citrus of bergamot with aromatic lavender buds, creating a cold brew that is sophisticated, floral, and deeply refreshing.

Difficulty: Easy
Glass of Purple Gray earl grey lavender cold brew

Instructions

  1. 1

Place 4 teaspoons of Purple Gray loose leaf tea into your jar.

  2. 2

Add 1 litre of cold water. Earl Grey is a black tea base, so cold water is key to extracting the bergamot and lavender without the bitter tannins.

  3. 3

Give it a gentle stir to ensure the lavender buds are fully submerged.

  4. 4

Refrigerate for 8-12 hours. Overnight is perfect.

  5. 5

Strain through a fine mesh or paper filter to remove the tea leaves and lavender petals.

  6. 6

Pour over ice, add a lemon wheel for that extra "mist" of citrus aroma.

Tips

  • For a "London Mist" style cold brew, mix 70% cold brew with 30% cold milk and a dash of vanilla.
  • Lavender can be strong, so don't over-steep beyond 12 hours for the first time.
  • This represents the ultimate elegant afternoon tea, even without the fancy cups.

Variations

  • Lavender Lemonade Mist: Combine with 25% fresh lemonade for a floral punch.
  • Gin & Gray: Use this cold brew as a botanical mixer for a premium gin cocktail.

The Bergamot & Lavender Synergy

Earl Grey is famously aromatic, but the addition of lavender into Muave's Purple Gray blend elevates it to a whole new level.

Cold brewing is the perfect preparation method for this blend. In hot water, the lavender can sometimes become \"soapy\" if it's over-steeped. In cold water, the lavender stays purely floral and light, perfectly complementing the zesty bergamot oil of the black tea.

Flavour Profile

The first note is a bright, clear citrus—classic Earl Grey. This is immediately followed by a soft, aromatic floral wave of lavender. The finish is clean and slightly malty, leaving a sophisticated, lingering scent of bergamot on the palate.

Perfect Pairings

This tea is made for scones with clotted cream, lemon shortbread, or a light cucumber sandwich. It's the ultimate sophisticated hydrator.
